Our visit to the Hartbeespoort Elephant & Monkey sanctuary was a wonderful experience. We got up close to the elephants and learned a lot about them. We were able to feed them, pet them and walk with them. We reserved the first morning session so we also got to brush one of the elephants legs. The guides were very helpful and friendly. They took tons of great pictures and videos of us with our phones. The monkey part was awesome too. We went on a little hike through the sanctuary and the adorable monkeys climbed all over us getting food from the bowls we carried. Be sure not to wear big jewelry and keep a firm hold on your hats, sunglasses and phones so the curious monkeys don't take them. There are lockers provided to secure your belongings, just ask for a lock. I suggest you bring a little cash with you on your tour so you can tip the super helpful guides. - Lyssa

The two activities where incredible the guides absolutely brilliant! The monkeys ate out of the bowls we were given some surprising us by jumping on our shoulders and backs. It was incredible to see them up close. The elephant experience turned it up another notch, the guides worked closely with the elephants to revise the opportunity of a lifetime- my daughter even got a kiss from one! The guides were all enthusiastic, patient and knowledgeable. It was a perfect introduction to South African wildlife and such an amazing experience. I would highly recommend - Heather
